Tesla autopilot blamed after electric car flips into marsh

MINNEAPOLIS -- Officials in central Minnesota say five people were hurt Saturday evening when the autopilot on a Tesla electric car caused it to suddenly accelerate and flip into a marsh, reports CBS Minnesota.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says deputies found the 2016 Tesla upside-down.

David Clark, 58, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota was traveling east and approaching an intersection when he engaged the autopilot and the car suddenly accelerated, causing it to shoot off the road and flip over, authorities say.

The sheriff's office says Clark and his four passengers suffered minor injuries.
