First Tesla Powerpack system deployed in France [Installation Gallery]

While Tesla’s massive Powerpack projects are capturing most of the attention, the battery pack system is also being deployed in smaller commercial projects.

Now, what appears to be first reported Powerpack project in France has been installed.

Home Solar Power

French solar installer Systemes Solaires claims that the system that they have installed at CN Industrie in Brioude (near Lyon) is the first Tesla Powerpack system in France.

CN Industrie CEO Clément Neyrial, a Tesla Model S and Model X owner, told Electrek that he reserved a Powerpack system as soon as possible to pair with a large 113 kW solar array on the rooftop the facility.

Neyrial says that Tesla delivered a Powerpack v1.5 with a capacity of 100 kWh and a Tesla commercial inverter with a capacity of 50 kW. It’s a lower energy version of Tesla’s Powerpack 2.0, which can have a capacity up to 210 kWh in the same package.

He shared a few images of the installation process with Electrek:

Neyrial says that by combining this new energy storage system with his rooftop solar array, his company will be able to run 100% independently from the grid 8 months out of the year and the system will cover up to 80% of the company’s electricity needs for the other 4 months.

He told Electrek that the system cost 60,000€ (USD $72,000).

Electrek’s Take

It’s an expensive system per kWh when you only need one or two Powerpacks, but it can still make sense financially where energy costs are high or where outages are common.

We are starting to see more of those smaller Powerpack projects, like a 2-Powerpack system at an independent Tesla body shop in Belgium and a single Tesla Powerpack battery that saved an Australian town over $1.5 million in grid connection costs.
