New Apple Card holders can earn $50 bonus for spending at Exxon/Mobil with Apple Pay - Bankrate.com

Now through Jan. 31, 2021, if you sign up for the Apple Card and spend at least $50 at Exxon/Mobil gas stations using Apple Pay, you can receive a $50 Daily Cash bonus.

The details

To qualify for the offer, your Apple Card account must have been opened between Jan. 8, 2021, and Jan. 31, 2021. From the day you’re approved for the card, you have 30 days to spend at Exxon/Mobil using Apple Pay and receive the promotional offer.

Previous Apple Card sign-up offers include Daily Cash for purchases at Nike, payments toward Apple Services like Apple Music or Apple TV+ and spending at drugstores like Walgreens.

Is the Apple Card right for me?

Here’s a quick overview of the Apple Card to help you determine whether or not this cash back credit card is right for your spending style:

  • 3 percent cash back on Apple purchases
  • 3 percent back at select merchants (for example, Panera Bread, T-Mobile, Uber Eats, Nike, Exxon/Mobil and Walgreens) when you use your Apple Card with Apple Pay
  • 2 percent back on all other purchases made using your Apple Card with Apple Pay
  • 1 percent back on all other purchases made with the physical card

The Apple Card doesn’t charge an annual fee, and it may be a good choice as a starter credit card given it’s lack of traditional card fees. You won’t owe a late payment fee for paying your monthly bill past its due date or an over-the-limit fee for making a purchase that exceeds your credit limit. Should you make a trip abroad in the future, you also won’t owe foreign transaction fees on any purchases made outside of the United States.

Of course, if you don’t frequently utilize Apple Pay (and don’t plan to) or aren’t an Apple devotee, this card might not be your best option. There are plenty of other no-annual-fee credit cards that can reward you for everyday purchases, such as gas and groceries, or offer you a flat-rate of rewards for everything you buy.

How to apply for the Apple Card

If you’ve had your eye on the Apple Card and are set on applying, you can do so via your iPhone’s Wallet app or on the Apple Card website.

Note, if you’ve previously applied for the card and were declined, Apple’s Path to Apple Card program may give you the guidance you need you secure the card with a few months of responsible credit usage.

The bottom line

The Apple Card is a fine option for lovers of the Apple brand, and its frequent bonus Daily Cash offers and lack of fees may sweeten the deal for potential applicants.

But if you aren’t particularly wooed by the Apple Card’s cash back program, rest assured there are plenty of rewards credit cards available that may better suit your needs.
