China EV insurance registrations for week ending Jun 30: Nio 6800, Tesla 14100, BYD 75800, Xiaomi 3200 - CnEVPost

Major electric vehicle (EV) makers saw insurance registrations in China rise last week as deliveries are typically higher at the end of the month.

For the week of June 24-30, insurance registrations of (NYSE: NIO) vehicles in China were 6,800, a new single-week record high and a 44.68 percent increase from 4,700 in the previous week, according to data shared today by Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI).

Li Auto stopped sharing weekly insurance registration numbers earlier this year, after doing so for about 1 year. In early May, it resumed sharing those numbers.

Nio delivered 21,209 vehicles in June, surpassing May's previous record of 20,544 vehicles for a second consecutive record month, according to data it released yesterday.

Nio delivered a record 57,373 vehicles in the second quarter, unexpectedly exceeding the upper end of its guidance range of between 54,000 and 56,000 vehicles.

Li Auto had 13,000 insurance registrations last week, its fourth consecutive week above 10,000 vehicles and an 11.11 percent increase from the previous week's 11,700 units.

The company delivered 47,774 vehicles in June, second only to last December's record high of 50,353 vehicles.

In the second quarter, Li Auto delivered 108,581 vehicles, up 25.48 percent year-on-year and up 35.05 percent from the first quarter.

Deliveries for the quarter fell within the guidance range of between 105,000 and 110,000 vehicles provided by Li Auto when it reported first quarter results on May 20.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) had 3,100 insurance registrations last week, up 24.00 percent from 2,500 the week before.

The company delivered 10,668 vehicles in June, up 23.76 percent year-on-year and up 5.14 percent from May.

During the second quarter, Xpeng delivered 30,207 vehicles, which was within the guidance range of between 29,000 and 32,000 vehicles.

(NASDAQ: TSLA) had 14,100 insurance registrations in China last week, down 18.97 percent from 17,400 the previous week.

The US EV maker doesn't release monthly delivery figures, and June's numbers are expected to be released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) later this month.

On July 1, Tesla China extended a 5-year, 0 percent interest loan incentive that expired on June 30 to July 31 as part of an effort to spur sales.

(HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) vehicles saw 75,800 insurance registrations in China last week, up 13.47 percent from 66,800 the week before.

BYD sold 341,658 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in June, surpassing its previous record of 341,043 vehicles in December 2023.

In the second quarter, BYD sold a record 986,720 NEVs, up 40.25 percent year-on-year and up 57.56 percent from the first quarter.

EV insurance registrations last week stood at 3,200 units, down 3.03 percent from 3,300 units in the previous week.

In June 2024, Xiaomi's only current model, the SU7, delivered more than 10,000 units, Xiaomi EV announced on Weibo yesterday, without revealing specific numbers.

In July, Xiaomi SU7 deliveries will still exceed 10,000 units, Xiaomi EV said.

Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) had 4,300 insurance registrations last week, down 4.44 percent from 4,500 the week before.

The company delivered a record 20,106 vehicles in June, the first time monthly deliveries exceeded the 20,000 mark.

Zeekr delivered a record 54,811 vehicles in the second quarter, up 100.05 percent year-on-year and up 65.80 percent from the first quarter.

Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) had insurance registrations of 4,800 vehicles last week, up 14.29 percent from 4,200 the week before.

Leapmotor delivered a record 20,116 vehicles in June, bringing second-quarter deliveries to 53,286 units.

The Aito brand, a jointly created by and Seres Group, saw a new one-week high in insurance registrations last week at 12,500 vehicles, up 16.82 percent from 10,700 the week before.
